Assignment 2
I chose to watch the video because i am too lazy to read. I think that the media's influence on kids is incredible. I also think the media is smart to spend the trillions of dollars it does on advertisment geared towards kids. Advertising for the kids will set up for future sales and ultimatly success.

Since you and I were too lazy to read, I can relate to this. Though I somewhat disagree that the media is exploiting children, it's not the media's fault that parents are not censoring what THEIR kids are watching. And like you mentioned, advertising to kids is a great way to make money. I would do it too.
ReplyDeleteI agree with both of you. It isn't society's responsibility to raise children; it's the parents resposibility to raise children to be educated members of society.
ReplyDeleteAnd the media is very smart to gear advertising towards kids. It sets up for amazing future sales and many parents can't say "no" to their kids anyways.
I agree that kids are the best to advertise to. They will grow up knowing about a certain brand and will continue to use it as they grow older or they will give it to their kids. Parents enjoy it when their kids are interested in the same things that they used to be interested in. I think kids should just grow up being more educated about the influence of media as well. I think the more advertising there is, the more education there should be.
